As your integrated logistics provider, A. P. Moller – Maersk would like to inform you of the upcoming road tax implementation in Denmark. Starting from 1st January 2025, a new road tax will be implemented in Denmark for all trucks over 12 tons. This tax is part of the government’s strategy to reduce the environmental impact of the transport sector. Below, we would like to explain how change affects your inland supply chain.
What does this road tax mean for you?
- Increased transportation costs The road tax introduces an additional charge based on the truck's CO₂ emissions. Unfortunately, these costs will have an impact on our operations, and as such it will result in adjustments to freight prices with +1.30 DKK per km for all diesel trucks.
- Optimised logistics and low-emission initiatives
As part of our efforts to optimise supply chains and mitigate the impact of such regulations to our customers, we continue to look for more low-emission and more cost-effective solutions. We encourage customers to get in touch with their sales representative to explore the best alternatives for their supply chain.
Keeping your supply chain moving remains of the utmost importance to us. Due to the introduction of this road tax, we will need to pass the cost to customers through a rate increase. Since these rates are based directly on the authorities’ rates, rules, and guidelines, we reserve the right to adjust our rates should there be further changes in the legislation.
We thank you for your understanding and look forward to supporting your logistics needs in the future. Should you need further assistance or have any questions, please contact your local Maersk office.
