To keep you informed about the circumstances that may affect our operations, we would like to share an analysis of the current situation regarding the availability of transport vehicles at the port of Cartagena, especially in the categories of articulated vehicles, such as mini-mules and tractor-trailers.
Situation Context
Currently, vehicle availability is affected by two main factors:
- High demand in the BUN sector: The significant increase in demand in this region has reduced fleet availability.
- Road closures in San Alberto, Cesar: These interruptions are due to community demonstrations related to land legalization processes at the La Pola estate. These closures have caused detours and, consequently, longer transit times and additional costs for the routes.
Measures Implemented
To mitigate the effects of this situation, we have worked with our suppliers to adopt alternative routes, which we detail below:
- Alternative Route 1: Bogotá – Medellín – Chigorodó – Necoclí – Cartagena.
- Alternative Route 2: Bogotá – Medellín – Valdivia – Caucasia – Montería – Cartagena. (Note: On this route, the section between Valdivia and Caucasia is only open for transit from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. due to public order restrictions.)
These alternatives may imply an increase in logistics costs by our third-party suppliers, estimated at up to COP 600,000 per trip, depending on the specific conditions of each operation, which will be notified specifically for your approval.
