Export bookings are handled either through our website's booking module, or with our Customer Service Teams located in our local agency office.
Documentation/Shipping Instructions - All export documentation must be submitted 48 hours prior to vessel arrival.
Sailing Schedules can be obtained by requesting through tz.export@maersk.co.tz.

Commodity
- Timber is accepted for export upon verification of the export's permit and license as timber is still a controlled commodity.
- Copper is accepted upon satisfaction by Maersk that it is from a known/recognized origin since there are no copper mines in Tanzania.
- Chilled cargo accepted only subject to survey by recognized inspection company e.g. SGS.
- Seedcake (Sunflower or cotton seed) is not accepted.
- Charcoal is not accepted.
- No reefer acceptance in Zanzibar.

Special cargo
Out of Gauge (OOG), Break Bulk (B/B) and IMO cargo are subject to standard Maersk approval procedures. Please contact our customer service desk at tz.export@maersk.co.tz with specific requirements.
Bill of lading clauses, documentation - We do not accept any CFS shipments as Nyota Tanzania Limited is not allowed to offer a consolidation product on exports.

Verification before accepting "Cotton, raw, in bales" non-DG booking no
As per IMDG Special Provision 299 Raw Cotton to be shipped as Non DG Density should not be less than 360 kg/m³.
Please advise if your commodity is Raw Cotton and provide below details on Shippers Letterhead.
Number of bales, dimension in meters (length, breath, height) and weight in kgs per bale.
Verification before accepting Batteries in non-DG booking
Batteries/cells are listed as Dangerous goods in IMDG code. Please help us with answer to below questions to accept your booking as non-DG. (While replying on email please highlight your answer in yellow highlight colour or simply text the answer for each question)
Caution: Misdeclaration may lead to Fire & explosion and would attract extra administration fee on shipper. It is entirely shipper’s responsibility to correctly declare cargo as per IMDG code.
Note: Batteries/cells must be securely packed and protected from short circuit as per IMDG code, otherwise it may lead to Fire & explosion.

- Self heating certificate: The Self-Heating certificate may not be older than six months and must be accompanied by an official accreditation letter of the laboratory
- Official accreditation letter by the competent authority of the country of origin
- Shippers declaration: Cargo description, Stating real end user and use of the cargo at final destination and must mention booking no. Duly dated, signed and stamped on shipper’s letterhead
- Commercial Invoice: Below documents required once cargo stuffed inside
- Weathering certificate: This certificate is to be issued by the producer of the charcoal and below criteria are shall be met
- Dated, signed and stamped from shipper (real producer of the cargo)
- Detailed information about weathering process
- Minimum 14 days weathering before packing into bags
- Container and booking number
- Vanning certificate: The Vanning Certificate must be issued by an official and independent Marine Surveyor after a physical inspection of the vanning of the cargo, and must be dated, signed and stamped by same. The Shipper is reminded that any misdeclaration of information shall remain his responsibility.
Following criteria must be checked and confirmed:
- Photos of cargo during stuffing container, incl. minimum one photo of the cargo without the outer packing
- Weight of each bag
- Container is packed in accordance with IMDG code and CTU packing guide
- Packings are new, air tight, intact and suitable for the cargo
- Temperature of cargo is not exceeding ambient temperature by more than 5°C
- Packaging and interior atmosphere is clean and odourless, no presence of fumes or smoke
Verification before accepting Fishmeal in non-DG booking no
Fishmeal is listed as Dangerous goods in IMDG code. Please help us to provide below documents to accept your booking as non-DG.
- MSDS
- Certificate issued by a recognized competent authority, stating that the product has no self-heating properties when transported in packaged form.
- Package type for the cargo (Please advise how cargo is packed)
Verification before accepting Seedmeal non-DG / DG booking no
Please provide below documents, to provide you Booking confirmation.
- MSDS with oil & moisture content
- Certificate of analysis (COA) with oil & moisture content.
- Shipper’s declaration duly stamped and signed with booking no. stating that “cargo does not fall under seedcake as per IMDG code and that cargo does not have any self-heating properties and product is substantially free from flammable solvents”
- Commodity Photo without cover/packing
- DGD in case of DG commodity
Seed meal cannot be loaded on VSA/Partner vessels
* If moisture content greater than 11% and OIL Content greater than 1.5%, SEEDMEAL will fall under UNNO 1386/4.2 which is PROHIBITED within MSK line group.
* If moisture content is not more than 11 and Oil content not more than 1.5 then we can accept the cargo as DG UN.2217.
* Also if SEEDMEAL is produced from SOYA BEAN and if Moisture content is not more than 11 and Oil content not more than 1.5 then we can accept the cargo as NON DG.
Verification before Gate-in COIL / MMA Booking
For commodity COIL/MMA you need to submit stuffing images to get our safety wise acceptance.
If the actual commodity is Steel Coil or Metal Material Article with weight more than 2 tons then you must have to follow MMA Process of standard stuffing to avoid cargo movement during transport.
If single Commodity weight is more than 2 ton or Commodities in bundles or multiple commodities put on pallet then Single pallet weight is more than 2 ton, we required stuffing images in word file format for each container separately.
If your actual Commodity is METAL COIL / Similar = Please refer attached TT Club guidelines + COIL REQUEST TEMPLATE version 1.15.
If your actual Commodity is Metal Plates / Similar = Please refer attached Plates A REQUEST TEMPLATE version 1.4.
If your actual Commodity is Metal Pipes/Rod / Similar = PIPE D Heavy Bars REQUEST TEMPLATE version 1.3.
Please do not gate-in Containers until Stuffing wise acceptance receive from our side.
Important note, unless the stuffing photographs are received and given a go ahead from our end, the boxes should not leave for the port. Improper lashing / securing can cause heavily damage container and vessel, and danger for crew when coils flying around on board.
