A.P. Moller - Maersk expands footprint in Latin America with new warehouse in Brazil
Certified LEED platinum facility brings additional warehouse capacity to the Sao Paulo region, adding value to customers’ supply chains and offering seamless logistics solutions across the region.
Sao Paulo, Brazil – As part of its commitment as a global integrator of logistics, A.P Moller – Maersk announced the opening of a new warehouse facility in Cajamar in the state of Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Located close to the main economic centres of the southeast region, the 19,400 square meters facility is strategically located near the main markets for fast-moving consumer goods, retail, technology & electronics, and fashion & lifestyle, among others. The facility is situated 50 km from the main airports, 120 km from the port of Santos, and 30 km from Sao Paulo, with quick access to the main highways.
This is one important step on the Maersk journey to become the global integrator of container logistics. Our new facility in Brazil is part of our investment in the East Coast of South America for building our warehousing and our contract logistics business. We are growing extremely fast with our customers on landside logistics, and we will continue to grow this part of our business in the coming years.
The new facility offers supply chain management services, including order fulfilment, receipt and storage of goods, inventory management, picking and packing of pallets or cases, loading, consolidation and deconsolidation, warehouse management system, crossdocking, and other value-added services. It has a racking structure to store up to 21,000 pallet positions and 22 docks.
Supporting customers’ emissions targets and strengthening the ability to offer end-to-end low-emissions logistics solutions is a strategic priority for Maersk. The new site is certified LEED Platinum, including rooftop solar panels, rainwater recapture and waste management system, felt thermal insulation, and lithium battery material-handling equipment.
By the end of this year, we will have a 350,000 square meter warehouse footprint in Latin America situated in country locations throughout the region, and we have a great ambition for the years to come. As we combine these strategically located warehouses and a broad portfolio of services, we aim to offer more value-added, agile solutions to our customers.
Maersk aims to better connecting Latin America with the world through expanding its end-to-end warehouse and distribution footprint and regional consolidation / deconsolidation network with innovative solutions that address customers’ needs.
This new facility adds to our six existing facilities in Brazil and is part of the plans Maersk has for the country to support our customers and their domestic and international supply chain needs. Maersk has transformed to a full-service, end-to-end logistics services provider, and our warehouse and distribution solutions take advantage of our shared global network operations to help optimize our customers’ supply chains.
