Effective August 8, 2024, Maersk will begin assessing demurrage and detention charges on a calendar day basis in the United States after freetime has expired, including days a pickup and return location is closed.

Freetime will remain calculated on a working day basis according to the pickup or return location’s operating schedule.

We encourage you to be mindful of your freetime period and facility operating schedules to avoid charges on non-operating days. Should you have any questions or require further clarification, please do not hesitate to contact your Customer Service representative.
