Following the suspension of the Australian Industrial Port Action and as supply chains start to normalize, we are pleased to announce the reinstatement of Melbourne on our Polaris service.

The Polaris Service add a port call in Melbourne, Australia, which will replace the current Sydney, Australia port call effective 2nd April 2024. With this change, we are pleased to offer our customers a weekly connection between Melbourne and Port of Auckland, as well as a direct connection between Melbourne and Nelson, Timaru and Port Chalmers. The service will continue to operate on a weekly frequency.

To improve supply chain lead times the Polaris will return to a 3-vessel service. As per our advisory dated Monday 26th February 2024, the OC1 service is returning to Sydney and hence, we will remove the Tauranga port call on the Polaris service.

With these service changes we are able to offer our customers;
  • A premium product with high schedule reliability between Melbourne and New Zealand on the Polaris, with 6 days lead time from Melbourne to Port of Auckland!
  • Tauranga and Auckland Metroport exports into Sydney will be loaded on the OC1 service with competitive lead times, while cargo from Port of Auckland to Sydney is covered on the PANZ service providing you with greater flexibility for your Trans-Tasman supply chain needs.
  • A stable weekly product from Sydney directly into Auckland Metroport, Tauranga, Napier, Lyttelton and Port Chalmers on the Southern Star service.
