A.P. Moller – Maersk would like to bring you an update on the current situation at the Rhone river, which has been in the news recently amid inclement weather conditions.
Heavy rainfall across Europe meant that water on the Rhone reached as high as five metres on Wednesday 15 November 2023, which ultimately stopped all Maersk barge operations in the interest of safety.
Currently forecasts mean we expect all operations to resume in week 48 (Monday 27 November 2023), but this may be subject to change depending on how weather conditions develop.
Our teams are looking into alternative routings and solutions for our customers on a case-by-case basis and we will be communicate any contingency measures with you as soon as possible if you are affected.
We understand that this may have an impact on your business but rest assured our teams are monitoring the situation closely and doing all in our power to keep your supply chain moving.
Thank you for your continued understanding and trust as we tackle the ongoing situation. Please don’t hesitate to contact your local representative if you have any further questions or wish to discuss options for your cargo.
