How Maersk Air Freight navigates custom clearance to keep our customer’s plans intact.
The Customer
Manufacturing a wide range of household appliances, the global multinational company is known for the quality of their products like vacuum cleaners, hair products, fans and heaters. They are based out of Singapore with a sales network across 65 countries.
The Challenge
To initiate an urgent inland delivery, the customer needed a certificate of non-manipulation (CNM) to get quick custom clearance at Incheon airport. The certificate provides assurances of zero alterations/zero processing to the customer’s cargo during transition.
The customer was facing difficulties in getting this certificate due to the lack of knowledge for application, such as the mandatory documents required, timeline for each step, etc.
With limited lead time for each application, the customer did not have the network or resources to ensure that the application would successfully be approved in the first round of submission. Any delays would prevent them from meeting their cargo timelines.
The Solution
The Maersk Air Freight team in Korea stepped up immediately and prepare the mandatory documents in cooperation with the team at the origin of cargo. Given their in-depth knowledge of local laws and procedures, the Maersk team in Korea also managed the customs declarations required prior to the cargo arrival. This eliminated any lag time or warehousing requirement.
The Result
Our solutions helped increase the efficiency of the cargo transfer and the customer was happy with the prompt and reliable services. Our quick actions and efficient operations allowed the customer to receive their cargo one day after it arrived at Incheon airport. This helped the customer meet their timelines successfully.
