Customs declaration system migration

A. P. Moller – Maersk would like to call to your attention that the current UK Import/Export declaration system (CHIEF) will shortly be decommissioned, and action is needed to ensure a smooth transition. For imports, this change will be effective from 30 September 2022 and for exports, from 31 March 2023. Replacing this system will be CDS (Customs Declaration System), a new HMRC platform designed to modernise the declaration process and facilitate UK trade post Brexit.

At Maersk, extensive planning and preparation, training, and testing has ensured that we are already in a position to begin to act for our customers within the new CDS environment. However, to fully achieve this shared goal, we will need your help.

There are actions that need to be initiated from your side in order to smoothly transition operations to the new declaration platform, ensure that we can continue to act on your behalf, and maintain our high service levels. The new declaration platform aims to provide more visibility on the customs process and is essential for import and export of goods going forward.

This will give you online access to your CDS account and authorisations, VAT statements and certificates, and more.

For any customer who utilises their own deferment account you will need to update your details and direct debit with HMRC to allow continued use, at the link below:
