Project Logistics is a specialised service offering within the global logistics industry. It combines traditional freight forwarding and transport capabilities with unique skills and competence needed for project planning, transport engineering, procurement, Health Safety, Security, Environment and Quality compliance, and contract and vendor management. It covers the combination of solution design, special cargo transportation, and project management services, including detailed planning, orchestration, and sequencing of end-to-end shipments from suppliers to destination sites ensuring that all cargo converges and arrives in time.
The logistics activities needed to successfully complete a project cover the integrated process of planning and executing the complete flow of containerized and non-containerized cargo from suppliers spread across the globe, ensuring that all cargo eventually converges at a given destination site in the right sequence, with zero defect, in full and on time.
As an integrated logistics provider of end-to-end supply chain solutions, Maersk is continually looking for ways to add resilience and agility to customer supply chains. Understanding customer needs and translating that into action, Maersk has updated its project logistics strategy to facilitate the creation and setup of Maersk Project Logistics (MPL). MPL will join the pre-existing project logistics services available at Maersk, working as a solution-based global product, in the “Managed by Maersk” space anchored within CEN L&S.
Maersk is setting up Maersk Project Logistics (MPL) as a solution-based global product. The addition of MPL to the pre-existing project logistics services, will allow us to strengthen our offering in project logistics, processes, quality management systems and licences to fully enable the strategy plan and provide integrated solutions to customers.
Additionally, the intended acquisition of Martin Bencher will further bolster Maersk’s logistic offering by providing the necessary experience, processes, quality management systems and licences to fully enable this MPL product and provide integrated solutions to customers.
This will enable Maersk to provide more extensive end-to-end solutions for customers with complex supply chain management needs, requiring both containerized and non-containerized solutions.

In recent years, Maersk has increasingly focused on decarbonization within our ocean business, as well as pioneering its expansion in the shipping industry at as a whole and helping our customers meet their ambitious greenhouse gas emission reduction targets. As we mature our logistics and services business, we’re also focusing on expanding our sustainability and decarbonization focus to also encompass project logistics.
Through a strong project logistics offering, we can further serve many existing and new customers in the renewable energy sector, a global trend that is front and center for clean energy. Renewable energy enterprises are highly dependent on logistics services to build their production infrastructure; project logistics is a significant part of their project cost. By working with an integrated end-to-end partner, these customers can benefit from logistics control that will provide project visibility and resilience. Furthermore, they will benefit from cost efficient end-to-end integrated solutions with a high level of control, so they better can manage the complexity and time sensitivity of their supply chain.

Joining forces strengthens our ability to provide end-to-end services to customers in the green energy sector, a vertical that is continuously growing and will continue to be at the forefront of the decarbonisation agenda in the coming decade.
