The world of logistics has become more and more interlinked, with disruptions, bottlenecks, and conflicts resulting in delays, affecting trade across the globe. Whilst these situations are often outside of the realm of your control, working with a partner that cares about your business goals and can provide integrated end-to-end solutions like Maersk, means you are able to infuse more visibility and resilience in your supply chain.

Leading the way forwards

As a company that is constantly seeking to improve customer’s supply chains with greener solutions, technological advancements, and integrated supply chain solutions, Maersk is honoured to be named a Leader in 2022 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Third-Party Logistics, Worldwide.

Gartner evaluates each provider based on two dimensions: their ability to execute and their completeness of vision. Supply chain leaders responsible for logistics can use this research to assess these 3PLs when considering outsourcing their logistics operations.

I am extremely proud and consider this is an important milestone of being named a Leader by Gartner in the 2022 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Third-Party Logistics, Worldwide. At Maersk, we continue to strive to create and develop sustainable, digitalized, and forward-thinking solutions that add value and ease to our customer’s supply chains, and we hold this recognition from Gartner in high esteem. Our journey towards creating end-to-end integrated logistics continues to help customers streamline and simplify their supply chains through solutions that are built to add resilience, agility and flexibility to their logistical networks.

Greener solutions and technological advancement

The key aspect of Maersk’s strategy is to continuously develop and expand logistics solutions, helping customers achieve their business and sustainability goals, regardless of their preferred modes of transport and technological maturity.

When ensuring a sustainable end-to-end supply chain for our customers, Maersk pledges that, by 2030, to reduce 50% of its carbon intensity on ocean products, with 25% of all cargo transported on green fuel. Terminals are expected to have 70% reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, and a minimum of 30% of cargo transported by air will use sustainable aviation fuel. Warehouses and depots will have a minimum of 90% green operations and inland transport will follow industry leading green offerings.

These goals are already underway, with the first pilot scale carbon neutral feeder set to be launched in 2023, and 12 large carbon neutral container ships will be launched in 2024. 126 electrical trucks are joining the North American fleet by end of Q1 2023, and additional 300 electrical trucks, set to be delivered between 2023 and 2025, to be used by our North American warehousing, distribution, and transportation business.

Our air solutions joined United’s Eco-Skies Alliance in autumn 2021; we are committed to using sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) for transporting cargo through the skies.

Technological advancements also play a great role in offering customers more visibility and reliability, as well as more integrated solutions. Maersk has created a blockchain platform, TradeLens, allowing customers to create an overview of their logistical networks, and in 2021, Maersk debuted the Supply Chain Resilience Model, allowing customers the ability to pivot quicker in cases of disruptions, whilst infusing their supply chain planning with more resilience. Maersk Flow, Maersk NeoNav and Maersk Captain Peter allow for visibility and overview, whilst Maersk Emissions Dashboard gives customers the ability to see their Emissions across modes and carriers, allowing them to make changes to their overall supply chain planning to implement further sustainable action.

Integrated supply chains solutions

We at Maersk work every day to improve life for all by integrating the world. At the heart of Maersk’s growth lies the goal of continuing to offer customers integrated supply chain solutions that meet their needs. A fragmented supply chain limits your ability to achieve your business goals. Therefore, in Maersk, we are going the extra mile to connect the key elements of your supply chain to unleash the value that will take you to the next level.

Our Lead Logistics, E-commerce Logistics and Cold Chain Logistics teams give priority to invest and explore ways to create more streamlined and impactful end-to-end solutions for our customers.

Our growing focus on warehousing solutions include consolidation, deconsolidation, and fulfilment centres, allowing customers to utilise Maersk solutions to meet their packaging, delivery and storage needs.

Customers lie at the very core of Maersk’s business; in order to continue to meet their needs, growth is required. Growth in space, growth in capabilities and growth in processes. At Maersk, we go all the way, every day.
