As per the new Kenya Customs regulations specified udner Sec.73 of the EACCMA 2004 (East African Community Customs Management Act), every shipping line will require to submit the Export General Manifest (EGM) with Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) before vessel departure from the port of Mombasa. These regulations will be effective for the vessels sailing on and after 22nd October 2021 from Mombasa port.

The new Requirement for Exporters is to provide “Export Entry Number“ for all shipments loading out of the port of Mombasa, Kenya (both local and transit).

To enable Maersk to comply with customs, you are required to include the “Export Entry Number” on shipping instructions (in the interim) from Friday, October 15 2021 for all vessels sailing from the 22nd of October 2021.

Notifications regarding mandatory ‘Export Entry number’ will be included on booking confirmations, and we will also engage you along the documentation stages through the various communication channels you interract with us to support you with this change.

If you fail to submit the “Export Entry Number” there will be a risk of the shipment not being loaded and a delay in availing original or final set of bills of lading.

For more details on the regulation and requirements can be found on this link from the KRA website.

We have also provided a guide below which explains the procedure to provide Export Entry Number through various shipping instruction channels.
