South Africa IMO Detention and demurrage - South Africa to/from World 2021

To keep providing you with our global services and in order to comply with safety regulations as set out by Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA), Maersk has revised the process for all IMO cargo discharging into South Africa effective 1st April 2021. These changes are to effectively plan and execute operations creating increased productivity and fluidity within the terminals.

All IMO Cargo in class, 1, 2.1, 2.3, 4.1, 4.2, 5.1, 5.2, 6.2 and 7 will require immediate evacuation from the terminal. Once containers have been discharged, Maersk will transport all IMO cargo of this class to a nominated off-dock facility. The cargo will be liable for storage from Day 1, which could be subject to Multistop Surcharge (MSI) and or additional charges.

All IMO Cargo in class, 3, 4, 6 and 8 will have 48 hours (2 days) free storage at the terminal. For all cargo in these classes that have not been released within the published release deadlines, Maersk will transport the cargo to a nominated off-dock facility, subject to additional charges.

To adhere to the release requirements outlined by Transnet, customers wishing to take delivery directly from the Terminal must submit their Import Release documents (complete and accurate) no later than 24 hours prior vessel ETA. Where the deadline falls on a Saturday, Sunday or a Public Holiday, release must be submitted to us by 17h00 (GMT+2 hours) on the previous working day.

If release requirements are not met within the stipulated deadline, Maersk will arrange transport of the containers to our nominated Overstay/ off-dock facilities for the customers’ account without exception.
