Singapore --- Braskem, the largest biopolymers producer in the world, today announced the signing of a logistics agreement with A.P. Moller – Maersk & PSA Corporation Ltd.
The two-year partnership covers Lead Logistics and multi-carrier Hub-in-Transit services in the Port of Singapore. Maersk will manage the end-to-end supply chain for Braskem, including full visibility of its shipments, customs house brokerage, carrier bookings. Further, Maersk will be managing other partners in Braskem’s supply chain across multiple supply chain modes.
"Considering the complexity in our supply chain, it’s important to have a reliable service provider, bringing agile and innovative solutions to us. That is why we have chosen Maersk as our partner", said Roger Marchioni, Director of Braskem Asia. “We can secure the supply chain resilience and steady delivery of our products through the partnership, and this will enable us to strengthen our position in Asia, and to better serve our customers”, he added.
Braskem’s growth strategy is based on innovation and sustainable developments, focusing on ensuring operational excellence, innovative solutions for a better life and developing an increasingly sustainable product portfolio. The global pandemic has disrupted chemicals supply chains in unexpected ways. The partnership with A.P. Moller - Maersk enables both parties to jointly develop logistics solutions that respond to the current supply chain challenges providing opportunities to manage Braskem’s cargo flow in line with demand patterns.
Rupesh Jain, Area Managing Director, A.P. Moller – Maersk Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia says, “The journey we are on together with Braskem underpins the strategic transformation of Maersk into a true integrated container logistics provider. Through our efforts, we want to enable Braskem and all our customers to connect their supply chains with speed, ease, predictability and flexibility. We will uphold the trust by providing digitalised and differentiated products.”
