September 30, 2022 - Update 03
Hurricane Ian made landfall in South Carolina between Charleston and Myrtle Beach on Friday afternoon as a Category 1 storm with 85 mile-per-hour winds. The storm is expected to produce heavy rain over most of the Carolinas and up into the mid-Atlantic, along with a possible storm surge of up to 7-feet. The storm is expected to dissipate near the North Carolina / Virginia border early Saturday.
Vessel voyages and line up for nearest ports will be impacted. We will continue to provide updates as we receive them from U.S.C.G. and terminals nearby. All vessels have been advised to stay at a safe distance outside the impacted area until new “Estimated Time of Berths” (ETB) are confirmed. We will monitor berth prospects and update our vessel schedules on Maersk.com with the latest information.
We will continue to keep you informed of all weather-related developments that could impact your supply chain with daily updates until normal operations resume.
September 30, 2022 - Update 02
Hurricane Ian made landfall in southwest Florida and weakened into a tropical storm as it traveled over land. However, the storm could regain hurricane intensity and is still expected to produce severe rain and wind over the next few days while generating significant storm surge along northeast Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina coasts. The storm is expected to make landfall in the proximity of Charleston on Friday as it tracks north.
Terminals are taking rapid precautions and updating their status conditions as presented below. Vessel voyages and lineup for nearest ports will be impacted. We will continue to provide updates as we receive them from U.S.C.G. and terminals nearby. All vessels have been advised to stay at a safe distance outside the impacted area until new “Estimated Time of Berths” (ETB) are confirmed. September 29, 2022 - Update 01
Hurricane Ian is forecast to make landfall on Wednesday afternoon, possibly as a Category 4 hurricane. Officials have ordered evacuations of parts of coastal Florida. Dangerous storm surges, flooding and powerful winds are expected across much of the state through the weekend. The National Weather Service said that rainfall totals are expected to range from six to eight inches with isolated pockets of 10 inches of rain or more. Disruptions to vessel and landside operations should be expected in the Gulf of Mexico, Florida, and along the East Coast.
