Job Description Summary

Manages and coordinates business and technical projects through all phases of initiation, development and implementation. Works with clients to define and manage the scope, strategy, requirements and implementation of projects. Ensures that assigned projects are completed within budgets and schedules while meeting client business objectives. Identifies, analyzes, mitigates, documents, and controls project risks. Provides effective and regular communication within the project team, stakeholders, sponsors and management. Identifies resource needs for the project and establishes roles, expectations, and goals with team members.

Responsibilities:

The position of Senior Project Manager - Machinery serves the purpose of handling and executing projects that range from retrofitting of vessels to implementation of performance enhancing ideas and projects. You could be involved in various projects involving machinery and hull, incorporating new technologies and compliance related retrofits. In addition to executing projects, you will be use your knowledge and expertise to actively support the fleet groups and drive

For this position, there is expected to be periods with travel activity, where you will be joining ship / yards for projects that you are involved in.  You therefore need to be flexible on travel, and capable of traveling globally without any limitations apart from normal visa requirements to specific countries.

Project Leadership:

  • Oversee marine projects from concept to delivery, ensuring early development and maturation of technologies through clear deliverables, budget, and timeline.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams, including engineers, designers, SME’s and contractors.
  • Manage project risks and implement effective mitigation strategies.

Technical Expertise:

  • Utilize your marine engineering knowledge to assess project feasibility and technical requirements.
  • Coordinate the design, construction, and maintenance of marine propulsion systems.
  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical systems and components.

Vendor Management:

  • Work closely with marine engine makers representatives to ensure seamless integration of their technical products into our projects.
  • Evaluate technical specifications, performance data, and compatibility.

Quality Assurance and Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, industry standards, and classification society requirements.
  • Conduct quality checks on marine equipment and systems.

Budget Control:

  • Monitor project budgets, track expenses, and optimize resource allocation.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marine engineering.
  • Overall 14-16 years of experience with minimum of 8 years of experience as a Project Manager in marine industry.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and software.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Motivated manager looking for opportunity to be at the forefront of industry defining projects.
  • Ability to navigate complexities of taking lower TRL technologies and applying them to operational assets.
  • Understanding of the thermodynamics of 2-stroke engines.
  • Experience with leading marine engines maker.
  • Project management experience/ certification would be an added advantage.
  • Experience and knowledge on various rules and regulations pertaining to the marine industry.
  • A structured and motivated person, who maintains a high drive within a dynamic environment.
  • Should have Advanced knowledge of Microsoft tools like XL, PPT, Project etc.
  • A good communicator and capable of interacting with many internal / external stakeholders in addition to value sparring with colleagues on challenges that exceed your area of expertise.
  • Excellence in both written and spoken English which is the company language.
