As a Chartering Operations Manager, you will oversee and manage the operational, crisis, and incident response for Maersk’s time-chartered vessels, ensuring efficiency, adherence to company standards, and fulfillment of contractual commitments.
Key Tasks and responsibilities:
Performance Management: Lead proactive engagement with assigned vessel Owners to maintain high operational standards, collaborating effectively with shipowners and relevant internal stakeholders.
Legal Oversight: Address and manage legal matters related to Maersk’s time-chartered vessels, working closely with legal teams as needed.
Safety and Reliability Management: Monitor and resolve safety and reliability issues on vessels and with customers, partnering with the chartering and assurance teams to uphold safety protocols and ensure reliability.
Compensation and Claims Management: Oversee the administration of compensation for off-hire periods, claims, and related financial activities, ensuring compliance and financial accuracy.
Operational Point of Contact: Serve as the main liaison for both internal and external stakeholders regarding operational matters involving all time-chartered vessels.
Expense Oversight: Track and manage operational expenses for time-chartered vessels, ensuring alignment with the terms outlined in charter party agreements.
Vessel Phase Management: Lead the phase-in and phase-out processes (delivery and redelivery) of time-chartered vessels, ensuring efficient and seamless transitions.
Organizational Briefings: Provide the organization with timely updates and key insights into operational issues and developments related to time-chartered vessels.
Project Support: Act as a subject matter expert to support cross-functional projects and IT development initiatives.
Team Performance & Collaboration: Ensure the performance, growth, and engagement of the operational team by fostering collaboration, providing guidance, and promoting a high level of ownership and accountability.
KPI and Performance Reporting: Monitor key performance indicators to ensure that vessel operations deliver and align with strategic business objectives.
Continuous Improvement Initiatives: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance vessel performance, operational efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
Required Experience:
Marine Background: Minimum of 5 years in an office role, excluding sea experience.
Procurement/Shipping Operations/TbM Background: Minimum of 5 years in relevant positions.
Preferred Skills:
Stakeholder Management: Effectively manage relationships with shipowners and customers, especially under pressure.
Ambiguity Management: Comfortably handle complex and unclear situations, addressing challenges constructively.
