The Head of Customs Operations, DRC is responsible for the strategic leadership and operational management of customs activities across the Democratic Republic of Congo. This role will ensure that all customs procedures align with national and international standards while driving organizational objectives. The successful candidate will lead and develop a high-performing team and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a diverse team to drive high performance and continuous improvement.
  • Foster a culture of professionalism, integrity, and collaboration within the team.
  • Coach and develop team members to ensure professional growth and engagement.
  • Promote an inclusive and supportive work environment that encourages innovation and accountability.
  • Develop and implement the strategic vision for customs operations, aligning with organizational goals.
  • Oversee daily operational activities across DRC to ensure smooth task flow and effective communication.
  • Ensure strict compliance with national and international customs laws and regulations, particularly in Kinshasa.
  • Develop and enforce control measures to manage compliance risks.
  • Act as the primary liaison between Customs and Maersk, engaging with Government Agencies, Trade Bodies, and the private sector.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to foster collaboration and enhance customs operations.


Who we are looking for

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in customs operations, with strong knowledge of customs laws in the DRC.
  • Proven leadership skills, with experience in team management, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate across various levels.
  • Strong strategic planning abilities and a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • High ethical standards and a commitment to transparency and accountability.
  • Fluency in both French and English is required.
  • Highly engaged, collaborative, and able to work closely with senior management and the team.
