Claims & Service recovery Trainee
Opportunity
The intern will work closely with the local claims handler and team to provide direct support to customers, coordinating with our central claims department, third-party vendors (including surveyors), and relevant state institutions. This role will adhere to the established structure and processes for claims handling, ensuring smooth collaboration across area claims, local claims, and claims hubs to deliver timely and efficient claims resolutions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as the primary contact and support for customers and internal stakeholders on all cargo claims, including Ocean and Logistics & Services (LnS) claims.
Register all potential claims and transfer quantifiable claims to the Claims Handler for prompt resolution.
Ensure that the claims process is completed within 30 days from the receipt of the final necessary document.
Provide recommendations and initiate corrective actions aimed at preventing future claims.
Establish and maintain working relationships with local claims vendors, including surveyors, cargo salvors, and Protection & Indemnity (P&I) representatives.
Initiate third-party recovery process.
Receive legal documents related to cargo claims and hand them over to the Claims Handler for further action.
Organize and coordinate survey inspections as required.
Generate scheduled and ad-hoc claims reports for the Claims Handler.
Facilitate communication and coordination between the local office and the Claims Handler.
Review longstanding cases assigned to the claims team and prepare for resolution.
Collect all relevant documents to initiate resolution of longstanding cases, following the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
Gather and analyze facts surrounding longstanding cases, identifying reasons for prolonged status and verifying cargo ownership.
For longstanding cargo cases with all necessary documentation, consult with the Claims Handler to proceed with cargo stripping or destruction in accordance with local regulations and SOP guidelines.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Experience:
Minimum of 6 months plus of working experience (internships) within Shipping, Logistics and Supply chain, or Iinsurance Industry.
Proficiency in French - & English, both spoken and written.
Minimum experience in core claims handling (E2E) will be an added advantage.
Legal Knowledge will be an added advantage.
Special Skills (Functional/Technical):
Good Analytical skills.
The knowledge of local maritime laws, and government regulations.
Stakeholder Management.
Excellent team player.
Well organized to carry out multi-task.
Flexible with changes.
Attention to details
Strong values and commitment.
MS Office proficiency (IT savvy).
